Assistant Principal Position at KST & KBK
As you may have heard, Ms. Waller took a principalship position in another district. We are grateful for her time and dedication to the Kaneland community and wish her success in her new adventure. After a thorough interview process, we have selected Mrs. Molly Tucker as the new assistant principal to serve both Blackberry Creek and John Stewart Elementaries, pending board approval on July 25, 2022.
Mrs. Tucker has worked for the Sycamore School District for the last 8 years. During her time in Sycamore, she has been an ELL Facilitator and a 4th Grade Teacher. Most recently she has served as the district's MTSS Coordinator. We are excited to bring her skills as an educational leader to Kaneland to serve our students, staff, and community. Please join us in welcoming and congratulating Mrs. Tucker!

What is MTSS
MTSS stands for multi-tier systems of support and will be our support from what you know as RTI (response to intervention).
The MTSS framework is one of the five commitments that comprise the Kaneland Graduate Profile. The MTSS framework is designed to address and enhance every student's academic and behavioral needs, regardless of whether the students are struggling or have advanced learning needs. The principles and practices of MTSS are based upon what research has shown to be effective in both creating successful and sustainable system change as well as what is necessary for providing the most effective instruction to all students. As Kaneland progresses to a more personalized learning continuum for students, there is also a need to structure support and intervention service in a similar manner. Students learn on a continuum at their own pace and progress, therefore both classroom and intervention instruction should mirror the student’s needs and readiness and be individualized or personalized. Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) (formerly Response to Intervention, RtI) is a targeted, tiered customized learning path intervention process. When implemented fully, an effective MTSS results in a self-correcting feedback loop that uses timely observational and assessment data to intervene at the student’s level and continuously refine the student supports by analyzing grade, building, and district-level data for the purpose of overall school improvement. Integration of behavior and academic intervention and support with existing RTI practices is another characteristic of MTSS, emphasizing the importance of the behavioral component when evaluating student needs. MTSS systems are created to support all learners through self-reflection or teacher reflection of learning progress and needs.
MTSS services provide a personalized process for timely feedback, developing intervention support based on the reflection of student learning and progress monitoring of the support based on progress on reported standards using proficiency tables. Through MTSS, conferencing with students and using multiple instructional methods are on the forefront. MTSS should be personalized to the child with intervention support based on standard guided learning and continual assessment and observation evidence of those standards and I can statements. MTSS is truly a collaboration among classrooms and support services based on each child's needs.

Parking Lot Construction Update
There has been a delay in the start date of the construction project due to a strike at the local queries where we would be getting our materials. They have begun removing concrete in the front, limiting access points into the building. If you need to enter the building, please call Ms. Ashley Jeager so she can let you in at door 10 on the west side. (630) 365-8170. Thank you for your patience and flexibility!
