Celebrating the Solar Eclipse at KST

We are very fortunate to be able to be in the path of the Solar Eclipse that will take place on Monday, April 8th.  John Stewart students will be partaking in fun social eclipse lessons throughout their day. The school has purchased certified viewing classes for all students and staff. If you would like your child to participate in the viewing of the solar eclipse, please complete and return this Permission Slip by Friday, April 5th. If you do not want your child to participate or your child does not have a permission slip completed, they will remain indoors with a staff member during the viewing time. If your child can participate, please help remind them of the importance of keeping their special glasses on during the viewing process for their safety.

Spring Picture Day

All students will be getting their Spring pictures taken on April 10th.  You do not have to purchase these pictures unless you would like to. All students will participate though. This is just an opportunity to see your adorable child(ren) and how much your child has grown through their school year.

Open House

Open House will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2024, from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. We are extremely excited about this opportunity to welcome families into the building to celebrate all of the learning that has taken place over the year. We highly encourage ALL families to attend, even if it is only for a few minutes!

Third-grade students will also have their music performance that night in the GYM  beginning at 5:15pm. Doors open at 5:00pm.

During Open House, the PTN will have its annual fundraising event with Silent Auction Baskets for you to bid on. Each classroom has a theme assigned to them and we need your help filling the basket. The PTN will make up the baskets with those donations. All donations are due Wednesday, April 10th. If you have a business and would like to donate items for the baskets, please email stewartptn@gmail.com or drop donations off at the front office. Thank you for supporting the PTN!

Please also make sure to stop by the Library and support the Book Fair that will be open from 5-7pm. Presale opportunities for students will be available during school hours that week.

Lockdown Drill - PARENT COMMUNICATION

On Wednesday, April 10th, our school will participate in our second lockdown drill of the school year. The drill will be coordinated with the Elburn Police Department and school personnel, including school mental health professionals. During this drill, teachers will lock their doors, turn off all lights, barricade their classroom door, and move all individuals within the classroom out of eyesight from classroom doors. The drill will not include simulations that mimic an actual school shooting or active shooter event. Prior to the drill, teachers will review the procedures with their students so that they are prepared for what the drill will entail. Following the drill, teachers will debrief with their students. If you have any questions about the drill or wish to exempt your child from participating, please contact Mrs. Kara Salto, Assistant Principal at 65928@kaneland.org.

Please see THIS parent letter for additional information and resources.

From the District Office: Kaneland Connection Survey

We are excited to begin to think about our kick-off and welcome event for next school year, as well as celebrating our connections across our district. We would love to begin to collect all the ways we make connections across our schools and community from staff, community, and students. Please take a moment to complete these three brief questions to share your connections among our community.
